Virtual Machine Tiers
There are two different Virtual Machine tiers. Both using VMware ESX technology, but the specifications, resource reservations and feature availability are determined by the Virtual Machine's tier.
Standard Virtual Machines are a great way to get started, with affordable pricing great performance and flexibility. These virtual machines run on ESX Server Standard physical hosts.
Enterprise Virtual Machines provide guarenteed CPU, Memory and Network resources and utilize powerful live migration (VMware VMotion) and high availability (VMware HA) technologies. Enterprise Virtual Machines can also utilize VMWare Snapshot technology, Private and DMZ network VLAN configurations. These virtual machines run on ESX Server Enterprise physical hosts.
